Ferdinand Maier is an Austrian politician. Amongst other things he held positions like Vienna Municipal Council from 1983 to 1996, State Party Secretary of the Vienna ÖVP from 1983 to 1989, Secretary General of the ÖVP from 1991 to 1993, Federal Councilor from 1999 to 2002 and was a Member of the National Council from a 2002-2012.

In the wake of the refugee crisis, Ferdinand Maier was co-coordinator of Christian Konrad in the refugee coordination until the end of September 2016. In June 2017, he wrote the book “Welcome to Austria?” with the journalist Julia Ortner. The authors deal with the great escape movement 2015/2016. In July 2017, it was announced that Maier will support the content of the NEOS plan for the forthcoming National Council elections 2017 in the plan “Successful Integration”.
