Dr. Andreas Mailath-Pokorny

    Andreas Mailath-Pokorny is the acting city councilor for culture, science and sport in Vienna.

    After graduating from the Academic Gymnasium in Vienna, he studied law and political science at the University of Vienna, where he received his doctorate in 1983. This was followed by post-graduate studies at the Bologna Center of the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies in Italy, graduating in 1985 with a diploma in International Relations.

    Among the major projects of his term include u.a. the spin-off of the museums of the city of Vienna, the reorganization of the Viennese music theater landscape, the Viennese theater reform, the establishment of a fund for the promotion of art in public space, the Vienna Mozart Year 2006, the establishment and use of the MuseumsQuartier as well as the art restitution.

    Since the end of 2010, Andreas Mailath-Pokorny has also been President of the Association of Social Democratic Academics, Intellectuals, Artists and Artists (BSA).
